BBC News 24 - BBC News 24 is BBC News' 24-hour news television channel in the UK, its international counterpart being BBC World. It first broadcast on November 9 1997 at 17:30 and at first only cable television subscribers could view the broadcast.
BBC World - BBC World is the British Broadcasting Corporation's 24-hour international current affairs TV channel with BBC News, documentaries, lifestyle programmes and interviews, and was launched in January 1995. Its main global competitor is CNN, though it also competes with News Corporation's Sky News, Fox News and Star News in other markets.
Sky News - Sky News is Europe's first 24-hour television news channel, originally launched as part of the 4-channel Sky Television network in February 1989. Its main competitor in the UK is BBC News 24 while elsewhere in Europe it competes mainly with BBC World, Euronews and CNN International.
BBC World Service Television - BBC World Service Television was the name given to the BBC's international satellite television channels between 1991 and 1995. In Europe, it was the name of the BBC's subscription-funded entertainment service, which replaced BBC TV Europe in April 1991, while in Asia it was the name of the 24-hour news and information service, which launched in October, 1991.
